New Painting – “Confederate Flag”
In the wake of people trying to say “Ban the confederate flag!” I decided to paint a painting of it just to tell the American government to back off and quit trying to tell us what we can and can’t do.

Senseless Cop Shootings
Ok, here's how I feel on these stupid cop shootings: apparently another black person got shot and killed by a cop in South Carolina. The cop got fired and put in jail. Should these cops use lethal force? Probably not. They have tasers for a reason. However, with that being said - they doing their job and what they are trained to do. They are trained to get a suspect to stop at any means necessary. This cop told this suspect to stop but instead of stopping the guy ran from the cop so the cop shot him! I'm sorry, but whether you did something wrong or not, if a cop (or any authority for that matter) tells you to stop YOU STOP! quit blaming cops for what they are doing. regardless if it's wrong or right what they are doing, that's not the point. the point is if a cop tries to stop you THAN YOU STOP! use some common sense people! If you stop when told, than these senseless shootings wouldn't be occurring!

Global Business and Issues With Child Labor and Sweatshops
There is a major issue with sweatshops and child labor if you are going to do business on a global scale. Part of this problem deals with the fact that we have different rules and regulations here in the United States, compared to other parts of the world.
According to the International Labour Organization, Child labor is work that harms the child's well-being and hinders his or her education, development and future livelihood, and that the minimum age for employment should not be less than the age for completing compulsory schooling, and in general not less than 15 years. They also stated that developing countries have the option to set the minimum age at 14 and 12 for "light work" as a transitional measure. Many developing countries, however, have chosen to adopt the minimum ages of 15 or even 16, so it is essential to check national legislation on minimum age to ensure compliance with the national law.
It is astounding to read that even the United States is also a part of the problem, despite our current laws. According to businessinsider.com, we ranked 141st and considered a medium risk alongside Cuba, Georgia, and Kuwait according to a recent study on child labor risks. This article also states that some of the world's worst child labor offenders are for companies that source goods from the developing world: Phillipines, India, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Brazil, among others. In most cases, these children are either put to work to supplement family income. Some are even bought and sold as slaves! In some countries they are even involved in sex trafficking!
Another issue we have in global business are sweatshops. Sweatshops have a poor working environment, very low pay, and usually no benefits. The United States used to have several sweat shops until we changed our rules and regulations, but currently countries like Indonesia or Sri Lanka don't have such rules and regulations. According to an article on theguardian.com, In Sri Lanka, workers were forced to work up to 130 hours per month in overtime, and anyone asking to leave would be verbally harassed, and in the Philippines, 24% of workers said that they did not receive additional pay for their overtime. Typical hours can be 6am to 8pm.
Several companies have gotten into a lot of trouble with having a lot of their supplies being outsourced to such places including Nike, Walmart, Ralph Lauren, DKNY, GAP, Converse, Banana Republic, Land's End, Levi's, among many others.
So what can we do to solve these issues with child labor and sweatshops? Personally, I feel that a company has a right to do whatever they want to do by their own free will even though it can be wrong at times, and we have a right to do business with such places or not after hearing their poor business practices. For example, I remember learning a couple years ago that Abercrombie and Fitch markets provocative clothes to teens, and so it causes me to not want to set foot in the store, rather than push our government to ban them from doing such things. Eventually businesses will figure out why they are losing money. Most people tend to think more legislation and government control is key to getting people and businesses to do the right thing, and I can understand why. However, I think the best way to solve the problem with child labor and sweatshops is awareness. If we make people aware of what these businesses are doing, most people I don't think will do business with these companies, and will stop buying their stuff until the companies changed their habits.

16 Inspiring Songs That Honor JFK Pictures - The Tragedy That Shattered Camelot | Rolling Stone
16 Inspiring Songs That Honor JFK Pictures - The Tragedy That Shattered Camelot | Rolling Stone: "16 Inspiring Songs That Honor JFK"
On Nov. 22, 1963, the Beatles released their second album, the Beach Boys played to a record-breaking crowd in Marysville, CA, and Elvis Presley wept with gal pal Ann-Marget as they watched the shocking news on television about President John F. Kennedy's assassination.
Before that day, rock and roll was still in its happy-go-lucky infancy. After that fateful convertible ride through Dallas, the '60s became The Sixties, and a fast-maturing rock and roll would help guide the cultural and political shift waged by a generation that began to question the ways of the world. As we recognize the 50th anniversary of the day JFK was shot this week, here are some of our favorite musical nods to Kennedy and the tragedy that shattered Camelot.

President Obama omits "under God" in gettysburg address taping
‘That is an affront to the people who died there’: President Obama omits ‘under God’ from taped Gettysburg Address – Glenn Beck: "President Obama omits ‘under God"
President Obama already made headlines today for skipping the 150th anniversary ceremony of the Gettysburg Address citing a scheduling conflict, and now it looks like there is controversy surrounding his taped reading of the address.
President Obama and several other famous faces from the worlds of politics, entertainment, and business recorded versions of President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address for a project filmmaker Ken Burns produced for PBS. But in the video that President Obama recorded, two important words appear to have been omitted from the text: Under God.'via Blog this'

No on invasion of privacy acts!
The United States of America is a nation founded on freedoms. Freedom of speech, Freedom of privacy, freedom to start a business, freedom to do as we such please as long as we’re not harming anybody. Over the past 50+ years we started losing those freedoms, and we have lost more over the past 5 years since Obama took office. You can’t draw a picture of a gun, say the word “Gun”, or even have a pop-tart shaped like a Gun without getting into trouble. Rediculous!
Recently I heard that the Obama administration has asked Verizon to disclose all their customers personal data information and that they want all the other major information technology services to do the same thing for the sake of homeland security. I don’t think they need anybody’s information without probable cause. That is against our 4th amendment rights! we have a right to privacy and I think we should fight against the Obama administration on this issue. The 4th Ammendment to the U.S. Constitution strictly states “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.” - allowing the U.S. government to have access to our privacy is going against our 4th amendment rights! I say we should fight against this!
Please go to this link and tell your senators and congressmen that we don’t want them to infringe on our 4th amendment rights!

The Problem With Government Over-Spending
There is a serious problem with government over-spending, and it is wreaking havoc on our economy. Our country is so much in debt right now that soon the money we have personally saved will be either taxed very high, rendered useless, or probably even taken away from us completely. There are already massive tax hikes for businesses so the government can pay for some debts. This has caused some businesses to go under or not hire at all, which caused a poverty level all its own. Over the past four years, I have heard so much on the radio and the news about what our government spends our tax dollars on, and it is very shocking. If we weren’t so overly taxed, our economy would be so much better. People would more likely be working full-time instead of part-time. Those who work full-time help the economy because normally they have the income to spend on things besides necessities, compared to those who only work part-time who only have enough money to spend on necessities. There is obviously a government over-spending problem in our country. Even though some government spending is necessary to pay for infrastructure, the government needs to pay attention to what is going on in other countries and stop over-spending and let the American people decide where our tax dollars goes. Some of our government programs should also be cut out and an amendment needs to be placed to prevent government over-spending from happening again and to show the future generations that government over-spending just doesn’t work.
One problem with government over-spending is the fact that so many of our tax dollars is spent to fight poverty. Some programs designed to fight poverty are welfare, food stamps, and disability. Some people who get this aid don’t even need it and sometimes the case-workers will literally find ways around the system to get a person that aid. I used to work with a man who told me that DHS told him that they couldn’t help his disabled daughter currently unless she got pregnant; another person I knew was married to a truck driver, and she was told she didn’t have to claim her truck driver husband because he was never home and so his address was not hers when it really was. Her truck driver husband also made more than enough to support the two of them. So how is spending tax money to fight poverty a good thing when there are obviously people lying to get the benefits? Even though there are people who truly do need these benefits, spending money to fight poverty discourages more productive behavior. According to Daniel J. Mitchell, an economist, “Government spending encourages destructive behaviors…These welfare programs encourage people to choose leisure over work.” Just about anybody without any money can get welfare assistance, whether they are disabled or not.
Another problem with government over-spending is the fact that taxpayers are fronting the bill for several subsidy programs whether the taxpayers believe in the programs or not. “There’s a news story just about every day that explains the latest way our government has wasted money.” (Americans For Prosperity Foundation). In 2009 taxpayer dollars bailed out the car industry and the banking industry. The taxpayers have also paid for energy subsidy programs for General Electric to fund research for new energy technologies. During the recent presidential debates I have learned that taxpayers even pay for funding for PBS, even though PBS hosts telethons to raise money. I have also learned in my Art Appreciation class last fall that taxpayers also pay for an art festival in New York City, along with other art programs. It is also sometimes speculated that the United States Government has given so much aid to other countries, but sometimes those countries haven’t helped us out. Shouldn’t “We the people” decide if it’s a good idea to invest in such programs and not the government’s decision?
If the United States Government keeps over-spending, it will eventually lead to an economic meltdown. According to the Americans For Prosperity Foundation, “Politicians are running up a tab and it will soon be due…It’s irresponsible and will lead to serious consequences for the taxpayers…Instead of helping our economy and create jobs…Our congress has…saddled our children with debt and increased our daily cost of living.” They also stated that congress had to double income tax rates to pay for the country’s debts which created less take-home pay for the average worker…Congress has (also) failed to pass a federal budget and had to borrow money from households to pay for government over-spending. The private sector isn’t even confident enough to create new jobs and hire people because of this problem. According to columnist John Hawkins, taxes will skyrocket. Taxes will get so high that one’s “life savings will be reduced to nothing overnight” (Hawkins). Because of the debt problem, the United States government prints more and more money causing high inflation and making any money a person saved worthless. Hawkins also reports that “overtaxing the rich won’t even work, it never has. They have the resources to leave the country if they get overtaxed.” If the government over-spending problem gets worse, there might be some serious consequences. It has been reported that the country of Cyprus (near Greece) has already taken some money out of some of their citizens’ bank accounts to pay for that country’s debts. David McHugh, an Associated Press journalist, reports that “The country of Cyprus planned to take 10% of its citizens’ bank accounts to pay for the country’s debts…a person’s money is not safe in banks in Cyprus because the government may take it.” McHugh interviewed Louise Cooper, head of a financial research firm in London, who said that “Europeans now know that their savings accounts can now be used to bailout banks.” (McHugh). Rich Smith, a financial journalist has also reported that the country of Belize has asked its creditors to write off 45% of Belize’s debts. If Belize’s creditors write off those debts, the American peoples’ 401(k), pension plans, and stocks are at stake because such plans are also invested in countries with high debt percentages (Smith).
The biggest solution to the problem seems simple: politicians need to just stop over-spending. They need to agree to a balanced budget and cut out as much as possible. All un-necessary spending should be cut altogether. There was a time when people invested in ideas they personally believed in, and organizations they also believed in. However, these days it seems as if we are forced to invest or donate through taxes whether we agree with them or not.
When filing taxes each year, there should be a form to fill out that states what one wants their tax dollars to go to that year and how much. Taxes from that particular taxpayer will only go to those programs they choose. This would make taxpayers much happier because even though they’re paying taxes, at least the money is going to programs they agree with and nothing more. Eventually congress will see what taxpayers want their money to go toward and will cut aid for the programs that taxpayers don’t want money going toward.
Some government programs need to just be cut completely or just reformed. Some programs I personally fill should be cut or reformed are welfare, drug war, and illegal immigration programs. We throw so much money away on these programs, it’s laughable. The drug war is unwinnable. What is the point? Those who want the illegal substances still get them, and illegal immigrants find a way to get behind border patrol. If we would just build a fence that money spent on trying to control illegal immigration would eventually be saved. People also get welfare aid because they are lazy, and find ways to get it when they are physically able to work. These programs need to just be reformed or cut out. Funding for PBS, NPR, educational programs, and arts programs should also be cut out. Even though some of these programs are great, the American people should decide for themselves whether to donate to these organizations or not.
An amendment should also be placed in the United States Constitution that would show future generations that government over-spending does not work. This would be in the constitution to state that it was tried but didn’t work, just like the 21st amendment was put in place to repeal the 18th amendment on the ban of alcohol.
The government needs to quit over-spending before our country has a major financial meltdown. Bailout plans and stimulus packages are not the way to go, and just make the problem worse. Some government programs are necessary, but should just be reformed so that so much money won’t be spent on them. The government also needs to step back and create a balanced budget and quit over-spending and cut all un-necessary spending. They need to let the American people truly be the ones who decide what tax dollars go toward. Only then can the government over-spending problem truly be solved.

One corporation to go out of business, another to have a strike
With talk of this “Fiscal Cliff” to occur on January 1st, 2013 there is talks of businesses and there employees making drastic decisions because of the talks of obamacare and the economy.
Since Obama’s re-election on November 06, several businesses have announced several layoffs because of the fear of the economy going down even more because of him being re-elected.
Recently it’s been reported that Hostess (maker of such great snacks as Twinkies and Ho-Hos) is going out of business because of strikers recently. They have been on bankruptcy status but the strikers didn’t help any. it’s also been reported that some Wal-Mart employees formed there own union because of low wages and Wal-Mart lowering there pay on healthcare and those Wal-Mart employees also plan on striking on black Friday. coincidence?
it definitely puts more people on un-employment and we think our economy is bad now? I think it’s fixing to get a lot worse.

The Elections Are Over and Something To Ponder
It’s November 7th, 2012. The elections and all the campaigning is finally over. Obama gets re-elected and the conservatives now have to go back to the drawing board. I’m a conservative as well and voted for Mitt. I just couldn’t fathom another 4 years with Obama as our president and raising our debt even more. Other things I have heard is also scary enough to make one think “do we really want this idiot to stay in office?”
While talking to my wife about some political stuff last night, it got me to thinking about all the “facts” and “pictures” that come our way. We live in an age where anything can be printed by anyone and passed as fact. We also live in an era where anyone can take a photograph and Dr it via photo editing software and pass it off as real. How does one really know what is honestly real hard facts and what is passed off as facts but not real?
yes, you can go onto yahoo news and read articles, usa today, etc. legitimate news sources and outlets and not blogs but one has to begin to wonder: how do we know the sources behind the legit articles are for real? how do we know the pictures are real?
Yes, cold hard facts prove the country is in major debt right now. but what about other facts? I was told by a friend that if Obama won a 2nd term as president that the day after election day would be the biggest day for gun sales because of some bill the UN is trying to get passed. however where are the stories of the major gun sales? all I heard so far is the stock market was down but it could be pure coincidence. there is also no rioting in the streets like I heard as well if he got the 2nd term. lots of scary stuff I have heard would happen if obama got the second term. people like Glenn Beck broadcast this stuff daily but where do they get there facts and how are they 100% sure it’s a cold hard fact though? even if they show the research as coming from a legit site, how can anyone really prove the stuff is 100% legit? am I saying Glenn Beck is lying about anything? No. I’m just saying how do we honestly know real truth from fiction in an age where ANYONE can broadcast ANYTHING at the speed of light and call it fact.
I guess we just got to take everything all in we see and hear and hope and pray for the best outcomes and prepare for the worst. some scary things have been predicted if Obama got the 2nd term (which he did) even including dangerous issues going on in Europe right now that has been predicted will occur over here. If our debt keeps going like it is now it’s guarenteed what is going on in europe (especially in greece) will happen also here.
Will all the scary predictions come true? I guess only time will tell.

I Voted
Today marks the first day of early voting in the state of Arkansas. I live in Harrison, so right after my 1:00 Basic Design class I rushed over to the Durand Center and cast my vote and I’m not afraid to let everyone know who I voted for. Mitt Romney. I am conservative first, libertarian second and a republican third. I believe in less control, less spending and more freedoms. Mitt Romney will hopefully cut the spending spree America has been on. There are several things we should cut out.
I wanted to vote for libertarian Gary Johnson but I heard that voting libertarian or other 3rd party formats you will just throw your vote away because those parties are just so small, so I will always vote for the republican person. I don’t like where most republicans stand on issues but I do feel that for a freer America they are the best way to go.
Arkansas is also trying to get a bill passed for medical Marijuana. I’m all for this. Marijuana has some good medical usages. look at all the folks with AIDS or MS or have an immune deficiency? It can even help those with high stress and eating disorders.

“I love Big Bird - But He’s Got To Go”
A few weeks ago during the first 2012 presidential debates, Mitt Romney said we should cut out funding for PBS even though he liked Big Bird. Last week while in Little Rock with my mom, I was reading the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, and I saw an editorial that I thought was very funny so I thought I would share it on my blog. I’m not too sure who the cartoonist was. I do have some other comics and editorials over the years I have enjoyed enough to clip out also that I will eventually share when I find them. maybe even put them in there own blog posting and facebook album as well when I find them.

Romney's 'Big Bird' comment goes viral - NYPOST.com
I’m all for PBS and Big Bird. I think educational programming for children is important. but as a libertarian I’m also thinking: should tax payers be paying for it? seriously? I mean, PBS has regular telethons for a reason. Cut out such subsidies! cut out the GM subsidies as well! Cut out the GE subsidies even! You want to know why this country is so broke? it’s because we gone away from donations from investors and business people and donations from the kindness of our hearts to donations by force through taxes! ridiculous! You can learn a lot on how to save our economy by thinking and acting like a real libertarian. I honestly don’t know how I really think about Romney, but I do agree with his statement about cutting out PBS funding.
The Republican candidate pledged to cut funding to PBS, the station that airs the puppet bird’s educational show “Sesame Street,” during Wednesday’s debate with President Obama. PBS also happens to be the longtime network of Jim Lehrer, the debate moderator.
“I’m sorry, Jim, I’m going to stop the subsidy to PBS,” Romney explained. “I like PBS, I love Big Bird. I actually like you too.”

How Big Bird won the first presidential debate of 2012 | The Ticket - Yahoo! News
I didn’t watch the debate but heard bits about it on Fox News this morning. This was one I heard about on there and thought it was kind of funny - and Mitt Romney makes a very valid point: PBS gets donations from it’s viewers so why in the world is it one of America’s millions of subsidies? I’m all for PBS but people should donate to it out of the kindness of their hearts, not by force. Where is it in our US constitution does it state we have to pay for all the subsidies?
To the list of "unlikely subjects of political discussion, 2012," please add one beloved "Sesame Street" character. The 8'2" bird entered the conversation at Monday's first presidential debate in Denver, Colorado, when Republican candidate Mitt Romney answered a question about what he would cut from federal spending. He included the federal subsidy to PBS, which broadcasts "Sesame Street."

No To Mitt Romney
I’m a conservative, and he claims to be one too but after a 28 minute video I watched about him a couple weeks ago I have came to the conclusion that I honestly think he is the Anti-Christ prophesied in the book of revelation. We all think Obama is bad? Romney’s a lot worse! This guy took a lot of jobs from the people that had jobs with companies that Bain Capital had bought, and than sold the companies to places overseas and such causing a lot of people to lose their jobs! If this yahoo becomes the next president there will be no more jobs. We’ll all be homeless and fighting in the streets. That is also prophesied. I know to some I may just seem paranoid, but I’m just trying to be prepared because I do believe in God and I am a strong believer that the end is near.
I know a lot of you are against Newt Gingrich because of his immoralities, but hey – nobody’s perfect. You have to look at how the guy might be as a leader. And in all the debates, he’s had some pretty good answers and he sure does know how to tell the scum-sucking journalists where to stick it!
Oh, and one other thing while we’re on the topic of being conservative (and I’m sure I’ll probably bring it up other times also on this blog) – I got in an argument that went back and forth for 3 days with someone online before I decided to just bite my tongue, and listening to a lot of Andrew Wilkow on Sirius XM has confirmed that if you’re libertarian or conservative you get accused of being racist and child haters, etc. Excuse me??? I’m racist because I refuse to learn Spanish and refuse to cater to hispanics in the United States of America?? I’m a child hater because I feel these lazy people on welfare and food stamps who are capable of working can’t get off there lazy butts?? I don’t want to see America's children starve either but it don’t mean we give the government the right to enable the parents to be this way. it’s called take the kid away from the parent!! it’s called set stricter guidelines for welfare! if a person applies for it, fine but they’re cut off after so long. And since when is not being able to speak English A DISABILITY??? I ought to go to Mexico and say “no habla espanol me want your disability check” lol. oh, I guess that makes me racist talking like this. yea, if that makes me so racist than how come I have no problem with them as a whole and no problem with them being here as long as they learn the culture and the language? racists don’t like them period. get a clue!! seem like the liberals and democrats are very very very confused!! lol. ok, stepping off my soap box for now lol. goodnight, everybody!
